Bannockburn Ceiling

Work started on Bannockburn Ceiling 01-09-2009

It's full steam ahead with the new Bannockburn ceiling for the Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre that will be housed in the station building at Renton.

Duncan Brown a very talented artist from Larkhall has kindly donated his time and talent into this massive project. We are overwhelmed at this offer from Duncan as he paints the Generals from Bannockburn for our ceiling which will be the outstanding feature in the Heritage Centre. As you will see as the paintings begin to develop it is going to be a really colourful experience for every visitor. Please check out Duncan Brown's website at www.handpict.org.uk where you will see a lot more of his fantastic paintings.

On Thursday 10th September 2009 the Artizans went to Uddingston to view the paintings of the four generals that Duncan Brown had painted. They were blown away to see these in the flesh, they are just awesome and they would grace the halls of the best manor houses anywhere in Scotland. After the initial shock they then decided on the 8 Coats of Arms that Duncan is going to paint as well.

Then it was loading these gems into the van and off to Renton before they are installed onto the ceiling in the station. Duncan Brown looked quite sad as we left as he has grown quite fond of these masterpieces and no wonder.

We will have regular updates as this project progresses, so please keep watching this page for further developments.
