Visit from America
8th September 2010
The Robert the Bruce Heritage centre had a visit from the editor of the Bruce family magazine “the Blue Lion” on Wednesday 8th September.
Deborah Bruce Gottlieb along with her husband Ben who are on a week long visit to Scotland and the UK spent the afternoon at the Renton station in the company of several members of Strathleven Artizans.
They were both blown away and amazed at the great work that has been carried out at the heritage centre in the short time that it has been opened.
They brought with them the kind regards and good wishes from Lord & Lady elgin and the rest of the family.
Ben and Deborah who live in Atlanta Georgia USA had a great time chatting to the Artizans and finding out about the royal lands of Strathleven and Dumbarton discovering facts about krb, i.e like his royal manor house and holding the medieval 13th century mortar that we have on display at the heritage centre along with some other interesting pieces.
After a very relaxing afternoon tea along with sandwiches cakes etc we all gathered round so Ben & Deborah could have their photos taken with King Robert the Bruce and the rest of the crew.
The afternoon flew in and it was time for Ben & Deborah to be on their way to there next point of call which was grangemonth and the Falkirk wheel, before heading south to Manchester to catch their flight home on Saturday.
A big thanks to the artizans who manned the heritage centre ….krb Paul Hunter, Duncan Thomson, Jim & Lynn Tannock, Brenda Cameron, Jeanette Ryan, Elspeth Crocket and Susan Hunter.
Special thanks to Jeanette and Duncan for providing the buffet.
And a very special thank you to Ben and Deborah Gottlieb for all the kind words of encouragement and support have a safe journey home and haste ye back !!!!
Yours on behalf of Strathleven Artizans
