Sergeant Murdoch was the Sergeant of the St Sebastians, the local family of Murdoch is of that ilk of Murdochs field as well as the family called Leckie.
He lived in the field called Sergeants Park above what is now Dalmoak House the Old Succoth held by David Graham. His other estate was Pirniehall (the temple lands of Crof an Rie became the village of Croftamie a Bruce memorial as well as the Croft an Rie of Bonhill memorial lands which became the Croftan Gie and the memorial lands of Queens lands at Queenzieburn (The temple Auche -Rie- och of Kilsyth, ). He was sergeant of the Guards De Eccose along with the other St Sebastains such as Buchanan and St Michael and the family called the Spittles of that ilk of Lennox.
His main manor was Duntreath which fell to Edmondstone and Graham. Several Bruce memorials are under his ward called the Auchen -Rei- ochs.
